Картината "Ареста на Христос в Гециманската градина" е придобита през 2000 г.в това състояние/показано с публикуваните 3 снимки/ от наследник на известен търговец на църковна утвар,който е притежавал два магазина. След дълго проучване установихме,че авторът на картината е Николо Джиолфино/1446-1555/ от Верона."Ареста на Христос" е рисувана около 1545г.заедно с три други картини,с които участва в украсата на страничните стени на параклиса на Кръста/или параклиса Avanzi/ на Сан Бернардино. Картината е подписана с инициали.Това се установи след професионална реставрация,направена от Стефан Стефанов от Националната художествена галерия в София. Гаетано Занкон/1771-1816/при посещение на Сан Бернардино прави офорт на същата картина през 1802 ,който се намира в Британския музей. По време на Втората световна война Сан Бернардино е бомбандиран и благодарение на факта,че картината е рисувана на платно,оцелява. Търговецът е посещавал често Италия и Германия за покупки за магазините си и я купува. След 1944 г.в България се установява комунистическа власт.Магазините на търговеца са конфискувани,но той успява да укрие картината. До промените през 1989 г.картината е в незвестност до момента ,когато я купуваме от племенника на търговеца,който се явява негов наследник. The painting "The Arrest of Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane" was acquired in 2000 in this condition/shown with the 3 published photos/ by the heir of a well-known dealer in church utensils who owned two shops. After a long research, we found that the author of the painting is Niccolò Giolfino/1446-1555/ from Verona. "The Arrest of Christ" was painted around 1545 along with three other paintings with which he participated in the decoration of the side walls of the Chapel of the Cross/or Avanzi Chapel/ of San Bernardino. The painting is signed with initials. This was established after a professional restoration done by Stefan Stefanov from the National Art Gallery in Sofia. Gaetano Zancon/1771-1816/while visiting San Bernardino made an etching of the same picture in 1802, which is in the British Museum. During the Second World War, San Bernardino was bombed and thanks to the fact that the picture was painted on canvas, it survived. The merchant often visited Italy and Germany for purchases for his stores and bought her. After 1944, communist power was established in Bulgaria. The merchant's shops were confiscated, but he managed to hide the painting. Until the changes in 1989, the painting was unknown until the moment when we bought it from the merchant's nephew, who is his heir.
